Job Title: Director of Game Operations Reports to: General Manager, Player Officer Board Supervises: n/a Occupational Summary Coordinate game day operations for all San Jose State University Club Ice Hockey home games. Candidate will also serve as Volunteer Coordinator for the 2011 National Tournament in March. Successful candidates for this position will be creative and able to think on their feet; possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and work ethic; exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and consistency; possess an ability to prioritize demands and multi-task; and understand that they represent SJSU Ice Hockey and the University and conduct him/herself appropriately at all games and team functions. Primary Responsibilities - Act as primary point of contact during game days - Assist the Vice President of the team in determining amount of volunteers necessary for each home game and filling volunteer positions - Oversee player/community volunteers in their positions; instruct volunteers how to fulfill their assigned duties - Arrange and oversee in-game entertainment (on-ice performances/games) - Assist in recruiting long-term volunteers for the program - Ensure each home game runs smoothly - Act as Volunteer Coordinator during 2011 National Tournament - Assist Communications Officer with developing community fan base - Other duties as assigned by the General Manager/Player Officer Board Required Qualifications - Majoring in Business/Human Resources/Hospitality Management or equivalent (or have an interest and relevant experience in event planning) - ability to keep a level head and develop solutions in stressful situations Compensation This is a volunteer position. No financial compensation is offered
Job Title: Head Athletic Trainer Reports to: Player Officer Board Supervises: Asst. Athletic Trainers (if applicable) Occupational Summary Develop, coordinate, and administer a comprehensive sports medical program for San Jose State University Club Ice Hockey. Successful candidates for this position will possess strong interpersonal skills, and said candidate will be working closely with SJSU Ice Hockey and its staff, various teams it competes against, as well as members of the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, be responsible and dependable; have an ability to prioritize demands and multi-task; and understand that they represent SJSU Ice Hockey and the University and conduct him/herself appropriately at all games and team functions. Primary Responsibilities - Develop overall sports medicine program for the team including injury prevention, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs, and counseling for student athletes - Provide athletic training services for the team, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary - Refer student-athletes to medical professionals for physical examinations when necessary to determine their ability to practice and compete - Assist with strength and conditioning and nutrition programs for student-athletes - Schedule and coordinate athletic training staff and students for coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions - Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medical program - Recordkeeping and documentation (i.e.. supplies, etc.) - Work with team's Safety Officer to develop incident reports when necessary - Ability to abide by Club Sports and ACHA governing rules - Other duties as assigned by the Player Officer Board Required Qualifications - Hold current Athletic Trainer certification - Adult CPR and First Aid certified - Experience developing strength and conditioning regimens for sport-specific athletes Preferred Qualifications - Possess 1-2 years professional experience Compensation - $200 each month of the regular season; pro-rated salary for post-season play (if applicable) - Travel expenses on road trips covered including airfare, fuel reimbursement (depending on location), and lodging
