Volunteer Coaching Information
Have you ever thought about coaching youth ice hockey? Want to give back to the game that we all love so much? Sharks Ice is always looking for energetic and quality volunteers to coach in our hockey leagues. If you are interested in coaching, please review the information below regarding league specific requirements, fill out and turn in an application. All coaches must be approved by Sharks Ice Hockey Dept before working with any team.
Requirements
In order to give our patrons the best possible experience, we ask our volunteer coaches to meet a few requirements in order to work with our youth hockey players. Listed below are the requirements for each league at Sharks Ice. Immediately following the lists is information on how to meet the requirements.
Sharks Youth Hockey League Requirements:
- All coaches, head and assistant, must have USA Hockey membership for the current season
- Fill out and turn in a volunteer coaching application to the Sharks Ice Hockey Dept
- Submit to background screening conducted by HP Pavilion Human Resources Dept
- Highly recommended (but not required) that all coaches are current with USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program, including the online age specific module for the age group that you are coaching
HP High School Hockey League Requirements:
- All coaches, head and assistant, must have USA Hockey membership for the current season
- Fill out and turn in a volunteer coaching application to the Sharks Ice Hockey Dept
- Submit to background screening conducted by HP Pavilion Human Resources Dept
- All coaches, head and assistant, must be current with the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program, including the online Midget age specific module

USA Hockey Coaching Education Program:
The objective of the CEP is to improve the caliber and quality of coaching in amateur hockey. Five levels of achievement have been established to educate and train each coach, from beginner to the highly skilled expert. Levels one through three clinics are normally scheduled from August to November and space is limited to sign up quick.
